Regional Clinical Network Leader – West

The Reproductive Health Access Project (RHAP) trains, supports, and mobilizes primary care clinicians to ensure equitable access to sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion. By centering communities most impacted by barriers to care, RHAP fills critical gaps in clinical education and care delivery. One of our largest initiatives is the Reproductive Health Access Network, a national network of more than 7,000 primary care clinicians dedicated to expanding and protecting access to reproductive health care.

About the Network:

The Network connects nationally through listservs, virtual video meetings, and in-person meetings at national and regional conferences. Network members also organize locally/statewide through 27 state-based Clusters (chapters) and three virtual Clusters that bring together Internists, emergency medicine clinicians, and APCs. All Clusters are led by a team of dedicated clinicians. The state-based groups meet two to four times a year to engage in advocacy, clinical training, leadership development, and peer support.

One of the Network’s main strategic efforts is supporting clinicians to organize within their professional medical associations, such as the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), in order to ensure that teaching and advocating for full-spectrum reproductive health care and justice are organizational priorities. Every Cluster has at least one AAFP liaison, family physicians who are leading efforts in their states to encourage activism within the AAFP and within their Clusters.

Role:

As a Regional Clinical Network Leader, you will be a part of a team of Regional Clinical Leaders dedicated to transforming the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) to actively and vocally support comprehensive reproductive health care, including abortion care.  The Regional Clinical Network Leader (RCL) will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and providing peer support to family physician RHAP AAFP Liaisons from six to seven states in the Western US region. The Regional Clinical Network Leader will hold individual mentoring calls with assigned AAFP Liaisons, and will set up and execute group support calls. The Regional Clinical Network Leader will also help plan and attend national leadership training meetings and will attend the AAFP’s Congress of Delegates and Family Medicine Experience each year. Part of this mentorship will explicitly involve recruiting and retaining People of Color in the Network in order to strengthen the work and impact.

This is a grant-funded contract position through March 2024, with the possibility of extension. This is a remote position that reports directly to the Manager of Organizing & Advocacy and works collaboratively with the Director of Organizing and Advocacy, Network team members, and the other Regional Clinical Network Leaders.
